Functionality Changes to RACER

Changes To The Phase Element Functionality

The RACER 2004 release includes several changes to the functionality on the Phase Element screen, the Remedial Action Wizard, and the Select Technology screen:

  • Media Dropdown List – A new item named "Structures & Equipment" has been added to the Media dropdown list on the Phase Element screen to enable the Remedial Action Wizard to utilize the new D&D technologies.

  • Approach Dropdown List – A new item named "Facility Demolition" has been added to the Approach dropdown list on the Phase Element screen to enable the Remedial Action Wizard to utilize the new D&D technologies.

Remedial Action Wizard – New options have been added to the wizard so that the six new D&D technologies are suggested when the user selects Structures & Equipment from the Media dropdown list, Facility Demolition as the Approach dropdown list and one of the three radioactive items from the Contaminant dropdown list.  Removal, Unattached Hazardous Materials has also been added as a recommended technology when the user selects Ex-situ as the Approach, one of the three radioactive choices (Low Level Radioactive, High Level Radioactive, or Transuranic Waste) in the Contaminant dropdown list, and one of the three Media/Waste Types included in the model (Free Product, Sediment/Sludge, or Solids).  The screen layout for the wizard has been revised to display long technology names properly.
  • Select Technology Screen – Added the six new D&D technologies to the All Technologies, Demolition, and Radioactive Technology Categories.  Also, the Site Close-out Documentation technology is now available in most phases: Study, Interim Action, Remedial Action, Long Term Monitoring, and Site Close-out.

 Changes To The Import/Export Process

Frequent importing and exporting of estimates sometimes results in a large number of unused templates in a user’s database.  The Import and Export process has been revised to include a recommendation to delete unused templates prior to exporting or importing an estimate.  If the user selects Yes on the reminder screen, the Template Updater opens.  The Template Updater can then be used to remove user-developed templates from the RACER database that aren’t in use.

Previously, when importing an estimate, Level Names were overwritten by the imported file’s preferences.  RACER 2004 now includes a message box describing which preference name changes have been made.

Changes to the Template Updater

RACER 2003 had four categories of templates in the Template Updater: Markup Templates, Analytical Templates, Professional Labor Rates, and Professional Labor Templates.  Note that three more categories have been added to the template updater for RACER 2004: Analysis Rates, Level 1 categories, and Level 2 types.

Changes to the Level Names Functionality

When the user changes the level names, the new names are used in all applicable places in the main menu and popup menus.  Additionally, the new names are shown on the preferences tabs for Level 1 categories and Level 2 types.
