BRASS-SPLICE Computer Program Update

BRASS is an entire family of programs that assist the engineer in many aspects of bridge design and rating. BRASS-SPLICE™ allows the engineer to analyze and design a field splice for a rolled beam or welded plate steel girder. BRASS-SPLICE™ determines the ultimate design moment for the web and flange splices; the ultimate design shear for the web splice; the dimensions of the web and flange splice plates; the vertical and horizontal location of the web fasteners; the gauge, pitch, and required number of flange fasteners. BRASS-SPLICE™ analysis results are provided in an output file.

Earth Tech enhanced the graphical user interface, implemented a graphics rendering system, updated the design algorithms to the specifications outlined in the AASHTO Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges - Sixteenth edition 1996, with 1997 - 2002 Interims, and performed general maintenance for the BRASS-SPLICE computer program.
